OUR LOCATION
Barfisco is located in baargal city which is coastal town at indian ocean near cape gardavue, it is a main fish landing site where fishermen gather at harvesting seasons from different regions of somalia catching different species of fish and shellfish.
Continental shelf here is too deep about 60km where artisanal fishers get more than any other place a chance to fish wider area, more than that upwelling happen here where fish gets feeding and draw together and it is one of the richest fishing zones in the world. There is a potential fishing organization in bargal with 600 boat owners and 2000 fishermen among them fish traders, fish processors, and traders include women.
Barfisco provides fresh and frozen seafood products and our main customers are fish retail companies, seafood companies, hotels, super and mini markets in both somalia and neighbor countries. Our company mainly source from other fisher folks about 85% and catches about 15%, it makes sure the quality of each catch, pre-finance the fisher folks trips and pays a competitive price for the fisher folks. Then the company process, packages and transport to other cities and towns and export to neighboring countries

Somalia artisanal fishermen’s practice of traditional catching methods otherwise known today as ‘sustainable fishing methods’ are BARFISCO Company’s main procurement source.
In cooperation with Fisheries Society BARFISCO Fishing Company continues to play an important role in improving fishing practices in the country by supporting the current sustainable fisheries program initiated by the Ministry of Fisheries under the auspices of the U.N.
